Pay Attention To Tone Of Voice And Body Language.
In addition to the words we choose, tone of voice and body language have a huge influence on the message. Words delivered with eye-rolling and sarcasm can mean exactly the opposite of the same words delivered with sincerity and eye contact. This applies to adults and kids equally.
